IL fegato è un grande organo carnoso che si trova sul lato destro del ventre. Peso circa 3 libbre il fegato è di colore rossastro e si sente gommoso al tatto. Normalmente non puoi sentire il fegato perché è protetto dalla gabbia toracica.

IL fegato has two large sections called the right and the left lobes. IL gallbladder sits under the fegato along with parts of the pancreas and intestines. IL fegato and these organs work together to digest absorb and process food.

IL fegato's main job is to filter the blood coming from the digestive tract before passing it to the rest of the body. IL fegato also detoxifies chemicals and metabolizes drugs. As it does so the fegato secretes bile that ends up back in the intestines. IL fegato also makes proteins important for blood clotting and other functions.
